Agusan del Sur traditionally supplies raw materials for sawmills and other processing plants even in the outlying areas in the Visayas and Mindanao. To capture the golden opportunity however, more and more industries are being set up. With timber and oil palm plantations being developed, downstream industries are also developing. Traditional handcrafted arts and crafts also thrive, with an increasing volume finding their way into the export market.
Trading is bustling in the Growth Centers of the province, supporting their unique clusters of municipalities. Inter-provincial commerce is likewise vibrant with goods flowing in and out through the Maharlika Highway.
The manufacturing sector is gradually penetrating the export market. handicrafts and jewelry are produced in different places in the province.
Being host to the largest oil palm plantations in the country, totaling 11,800 hectares, and vast tracts of reforestation projects, factories are being set up to process palm fresh fruit bunches into crude palm oil, and plantation timber into veneer and match splints. Different indigenous materials are also processed into handicrafts, gold into fine jewelry, different fruits and crops into food items.
Gold deposits are found in Agusan del Sur. Other commerciable minerals found in the province are limestone, marble, gypsum, manganese, phosphate rock, coal, andesite rock, chromite, quartz, white clay and aggregates.
