PROFILE
The municipality is centrally located at the eastern part of Agusan del Sur. It is bounded on the north by the capital town of Agusan del Sur – Prosperidad; on the south by the Municipality of Rosario’ on the east by Surigao del Sur and on the west by the Municipality of Talacogon. Its total land area is subdivided into 27 regular barangays.
It has a trapezoid like formation with low flat elevation in the rural areas rising in gentle slope upward towards the east as it approaches the border of Surigao del Sur. The terrain towards the border is particularly flat and sparsely settled, spot hills and rolling land traversed by creeks and rivers, spring and waterfalls.
The huge Mt. Magdiwata which reaches up to 588 meters above sea level, breaks the level plains of the poblacion area and some barangays on the mid portion. It is surprising that the climate in these areas is noted to be cold and chilly. Its high elevation serves as a protective wall from typhoon and strong winds. Fortunately, it is on the outside fringe of the typhoon built and is seldom affected directly by storm.
It lies on the climate region (type II) with no extreme dry but with a very pronounced wet season of heavy precipitation from the month of December to early part of March. Maximum downpour occurs in the month of January. A well and evenly distributed rainfall occurs from the month of April to November.
The soil composition within the area is classified as silt loam that covers 46% of the total land area; followed by sandy loam of 28% of the total land area and lastly by clay loam by 26% of the total covered area.
Owing to its vast area of flatlands, San Francisco is very ideal for agricultural crops and fishponds. Over one-half of the municipality is suited to rice and fishpond.
Visualized yourself viewing the lush vegetation of the huge Mt. Magdiwata with its flatlands abundantly filled with golden grains during harvest from the rice fields. Its physical features are being capitalized by the gold and rich minerals hidden underneath. San Francisco is indeed a haven of fairytales and heaven here on earth.
Come and lets all together have a sneak peak into the wonders of panoramic view of San Francisco that brings serenity and security to its people.
