AgSur provincial goverment aid Sendong victims
AGUSAN SUR-The provincial government dispatched a relief aid to victims of the most destructive cyclone Sendong in Cagayan de Oro City recently.
Some 200 boxes of can goods, another 200 boxes of noodles, sacks of rice and used clothing’s were donated by the province.
Earlier, Governor Adolph Edward “Eddiebong” Plaza immediately sent two teams of the Search and Rescue Agusan del Sur (SARAS) for clearing and retrieval operations in Barangay Bulua in the said city.
It was December 16 when typhoon Sendong attacked Cagayan de Oro City, Iligan City in the province of Misamis Oriental and Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental while the residents of these places went to sleep. They were awakened by the roaring flood waters which at that time started swills people in just a minute.
Cyclone also washed out houses, vehicles, appliances, uproots the trees and killed thousand lives of people.
National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) officially declared Sendong as the most destructive cyclone to hit the country this year. ---Melody E. de Vera/PPIO-AgSur
