DA Sec visits PGAS, turns over P8M project
AGUSAN DEL SUR – Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala visited this province recently and turns over P8 million worth of agriculture projects to the Provincial Governor Eddiebong Plaza for the distribution to the respective recipients who were victims of the flood that hit the province this month. The projects are as follows: Green House 4 units for San Francisco, Trento, Sta. Josefa and San Luis; Drip Irrigation 15 units for Sibagat, Bayugan, Prosperidad, San Francisco, Trento, Veruela, Sta. Josefa, Esperanza and San Luis; Pump and Engine sets 2 units and 2 units of Power Sprayer for San Francisco and Prosperidad; Computer sets 3 units for PAFC, PVO and Sibagat; LGU Esperanza 1 unit of Farm Tractor; and 50 bags of inbred Rice Seeds for Provincial Agriculture Office.
Alcala encourages the farmers to learn and likewise use the new technology in diversified farming, values formation, financial accounting and most of all aware that farming in the recent field is a big business. He added that farmer will not say that he is only a farmer. But rather say, I am a farmer to work out for improvements and developments in his living condition. This great challenge was discussed with the Local Government Units to facilitate the farmers’ need including marketing. The farmers on the other hand, expressed their sentiments and dilemmas like the National Irrigation Administration project which is still not finished, farm-to-market roads and many more. The LGUs are then commission to act on the issues and concerns raised by farmers and to reports the same to Secretary Alcala for further monitoring and solution to the problem.

Gov. Eddiebong Plaza receives the key or two (2) farm tractors from Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala during the simple turn-over rites held on January 20,2011 at the D.O. Plaza sports Complex grounds at Properidad , Agusan del Sur. The Equipment which are intended for the towns of Esperanza and San Luis are Part of the P8, 000,000 of various farm inputs provided by the department to the province as support to agricultural development after it was hit by flash floods early this year.
